Before we proceed, let’s address some common myths about hypnotherapy. First, you are always in control. Hypnosis is a natural state, much like daydreaming or getting lost in a good book. You cannot be made to do anything against your will. Secondly, you will not be unconscious; you’ll be aware of everything happening around you. Hypnotherapy is safe, and its effectiveness is backed by scientific research.

During the session, you may feel deeply relaxed, both physically and mentally. Some people experience a sensation of lightness, heaviness, or tingling. These are all normal responses. You might find that time passes quickly, or you may feel very focused and aware. Each person’s experience is unique, but the common thread is a sense of calm and relaxation.

How Hypnotherapy Works

Hypnotherapy sessions will follow a structured approach to help you achieve this relaxed and focused state.

 

Here's a brief overview:

 

The Induction

We’ll begin with an induction to start the process of relaxation. A favourite of mine is Progressive Muscle Relaxation (PMR): PMR, which involves gradually relaxing different muscle groups in your body. This process helps to release physical tension and primes your mind and body for deeper relaxation.

 

Deepener:

After PMR, we’ll use a technique called a deepener. This could involve visualizing descending a staircase, floating on a cloud, or any other imagery that helps you drift into a deeper state of relaxation. The deepener enhances the trance state, making you more receptive to positive suggestions.

 

Suggestions:

Once you’re deeply relaxed, I will provide positive suggestions tailored to boost your self-esteem and confidence. These suggestions are designed to bypass the critical mind and tap into your subconscious, where lasting change can occur.

 

Orientation:

Finally, I will gently bring you back to full awareness, feeling refreshed and empowered.

The process typically begins with a thorough assessment of your specific issues and preferences. This initial assessment is crucial as it helps me understand your unique situation, your goals, and how we can best achieve them together.

During our first meeting, I’ll ask you to share the challenges you’re facing and the changes you hope to make. This conversation allows me to get a clear picture of your needs. Additionally, we’ll discuss your preferences in terms of therapeutic modalities and the tone you’re most comfortable with. For example, some people prefer a direct and straightforward approach, while others might benefit more from a gentle and nurturing style. Your comfort and trust are paramount in this process.

 

Proposing a Treatment Plan

Based on our initial assessment, I’ll propose a personalized treatment plan. This plan often involves three or more sessions, each designed to build on the previous one and progressively help you achieve your goals.

 

Tailored Scripts and Sessions

Each session will involve tailored scripts that address your specific needs. These scripts are carefully crafted to reinforce positive changes and overcome any obstacles you’re facing.

 

Ongoing Adjustments

Throughout our work together, I’ll continuously adjust the scripts and techniques based on your feedback and progress. This adaptive approach ensures that each session is effective and relevant to your evolving needs.
